Spinal Adjustment
Up to 80% of adults will contend with back pain at some time in their lives. After upper respiratory problems, back pain is the second most common reason for visiting the doctor.

All solutions, including medication and surgery, come with risks. Medication could cause additional complications. Surgery is invasive and may not resolve the problem.

Chiropractors use spinal adjustment, a drug-free, hands-on treatment with minimal risk or impact to the body, to give relief.

In most circumstances, a tissue injury restricting joint mobility causes the pain. Because of the intimate relation between the vertebrae and the nervous system, adjusting the spine's position can give relief and improve health.

Chiropractors restore joint mobility with quick, controlled applications of force to the spine and surrounding area. During the adjustment, you may hear popping, it's not caused by the joint, but by the release of gas trapped in the joint. Occasional soreness, like that after exercise, will usually go away within 12 to 48 hours.

After adjustment, the chiropractor may discuss your daily activities, posture, and lifestyle to identify possible sources of the pain. Chronic pain may be caused by an irritating job- or hobby-related activity. The chiropractor may recommend some exercises or changes to your lifestyle for lasting relief, exercise and a healthy diet contribute to a healthy spine.

A combination of chiropractic adjustments and an examination of daily habits may increase your range of motion, reduce nerve irritability and improve overall function. Consider integrating chiropractic adjustment into your fight against back pain.
Before Stretching
You may already have a daily stretching regimen to alleviate back pain. While stretching can be good for your body, try a few complementary practices to maximize their benefit.

Warm your muscles up for 10 or 15 minutes before beginning. Take a short stroll or otherwise actively use your body.

Stretch until you feel mild tension in your muscle, not pain. As your muscles relax, slowly and gently increase your stretch. Never 'bounce', it can cause damage.

Breathe deeply. Inhale before the stretch, then exhale as you hold the position. Keep it up and enjoy the benefits!

The Smoking Gun of Back Pain.
Back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor's office. At some time in our lives, as many as 80% of us will experience a back problem.

While a chiropractor can help you alleviate your pain, you can take steps to keep it from starting.

Don't smoke. The chemicals in tobacco products impair blood flow, robbing your spinal tissue of oxygen and nutrients. That impairment also delays your spine's natural healing time after an injury.

Become a part of a different statistic, the growing number of Americans who've given up cigarettes and enjoy healthier lives.
